FRAMEWORK SCORES A ROYAL HAT TRICK
Three members of the royal family
have given their seal of approval to a
trio of high profile projects built by
leading off site construction
specialist Framework CDM using the
company’s innovative system of
factory produced, pre-engineered
roof, wall and floor cassettes.
Over the past two months, Prince
Charles, Prince Andrew and Prince
Edward have in turn officially opened
the visitor centre at Wiltshire Wildlife
Trust’s Lower Moor Farm, the Selby
Association of Voluntary Services’
new central office and the Goblin
Combe Environment Centre.
Their endorsement has significantly
raised the profile of each project, all
of which were designed to offer the
most environmentally friendly,
sustainable solution for the client –
as well as meeting tight construction
deadlines.
Lower Moor Farm’s visitor centre
was designed to inspire anyone who
sees it to adopt a greener lifestyle
and is an integral feature of the new,
96-acre nature reserve. A standard
bearer for sustainable construction,
the centre features a green roof and
even homes for bats, made by
leaving spaces to roost in the natural
larch cladding covering the structure.
Selby AVS’ three-storey office was
originally due to be built using
traditional methods but off site
construction was chosen to help the
project meet strict budget and time
constraints. The high level of
insulation used in the building also
significantly reduces heating costs.
Goblin Combe’s residential study
facility operates a bio-mass boiler for
central heating water, along with a
rainwater harvester that provides
water for flushing the toilets.
Framework Managing Director Dave
Madgwick said: “These are three
very different schemes and I’m
delighted our off site construction
was able to produce fast, cost
effective solutions for the clients,
with sustainability always at their
core.”
All of the projects were built using
Framework’s innovative off site
construction system, comprising a
series of factory produced roof, wall
and floor cassettes that help fuse
individual architectural design with
fast track building processes.
This creates a quicker, more cost
effective and environmentally friendly
method of construction.
